April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. In seventh grade she began playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons, sparking her passion for songwriting. When she was 12 years old, April composed her first single Different. At the age of 14, April spent a lot of her time writing song ideas and practicing her musical skills. After that, she started taking excursions to write with her father, who lived in NY as well as LA. April also added additional themes to the track "Take My Hand" for a few of her acquaintances who faced problems like peer pressure, issues, or even teenage suicide. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing following as a lifestyle influencer and works for popular brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. Since she was born without a left hand, the woman is an important part of herself. However, it's not her entire story. The profile of Lockhart on Twitter does not conceal her being disabled, but neither does it focus on it. What message is it trying to convey? It's important to keep in mind that each of us has multiple faces. Our identities are varied and we're much beyond our body. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart in a video interview "I am not convinced that my physical appearance will define my character. My goal is not to influence disabilities because I've got many more things to contribute." And it doesn't affect my everyday life. I go about every day as normal and have found the best way for me to adapt things. It's also part of me so I think that it's crucial to speak about. Her journey to self-acceptance is one that can last for a long time, and she can be a role model in this regard. Lockhart admits to having been through a few phases regarding her appearance, feeling insecure at times to wear clothes that showed her arms. She now wears any outfit she wants and posts pictures on Facebook with pride. The self-love she talks about is a journey. I'm not sure whether you'll get to the final stage. It's a fact that I see for everyone, whatever they are struggling with. The people you surround yourself with, who know you, and can see into your heart are the most important people to help you remember what you're concerned about.
